Buyers ask me this every week. Someone places an order, gets added to my card, and then starts checking their credit report the next morning like it’s going to magically update overnight. It doesn’t work that way — but the real timeline is predictable once you understand how the billing cycle fits in.
There are enough bad actors in this space that when people ask me how to buy tradelines, the real question underneath is usually “how do I buy one without getting scammed?” Both are fair. Here’s how the process actually works, from someone who sells them — what you’re paying for, what actually moves your score, and where to buy without handing your information to the wrong person.
“Leverage” is a loaded word in personal finance. Most of the time, how to leverage credit to generate wealth means using borrowed money to control an asset you couldn’t buy outright — and that version comes with real risk. People assume tradelines are permanent — that once you’re added as an authorized user, that account lives on your report forever. Usually that’s not how it works. So how long do tradelines stay on your credit? For the purchased, authorized-user kind, the honest answer is about two months: you’re added before the statement closes, the account reports to the bureaus for roughly two billing cycles, and then you’re removed and it drops off not long after. Understanding that timeline is probably the single most important thing buyers don’t know going in.
