Four demands, one supervisor thread running through all of them
The retail sample splits SalesFloor and Cashier into separate volume demands — both weighted higher from late morning through close, when foot traffic peaks — and treats Stockroom as its own early-morning-only demand for receiving and restocking. ShiftSupervisor is a concurrent presence demand covering every open hour, satisfied by whichever senior staffer is already on the floor for some other reason. A few people are cross-trained across sales floor, cashier, and stockroom, which is what actually makes the supervisor coverage work without a dedicated body standing around doing nothing but supervising.
Why the receiving window matters on its own
Stockroom coverage isn’t glamorous, but it’s the one demand in this model with a hard time boundary — the truck arrives when it arrives, and if nobody’s scheduled to receive it, everything downstream (sales floor stocked, shelves fronted) slips. Modeling it as its own demand with its own narrow window, instead of folding it into “whoever’s around in the morning,” is what keeps that from silently falling through the cracks.
